A letter of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus "Compliance with the Nagoya Protocol requirements" to the Institute of Genetics and Cytology, the National Academy of Sciences, confirming the compliance with the Nagoya Protocol when the genetic resources were transferred to the Potato GeneBank of the US Department of Agriculture.

3.1 The provided genetic resources should be used for non-commercial purposes only.  3.2 Use of genetic resources for commercial purposes is possible only upon the conclusion of a new benefit-sharing agreement. 
Subject-matter or genetic resource(s)

The subject of this Agreement is the transfer of genetic material of three (3) Belarusian potato lines (the genus Solanum),  SvSvl (tissue culture), SvSv2 (tissue culture) and IGC10/1.21 (tubers) for scientific research.

Information on the utilization of the genetic resource(s)
  • Non-Commercial
Access was granted for scientific research. Use of genetic resources for commercial purposes is possible only upon the conclusion of a new benefit-sharing agreement.

The User of Genetic Resources shall get prior approval from the National Competent Authority:  - to submit an application for intellectual property rights to the invention based on accessed genetic resources’ use;   - for commercial use of accessed genetic resources.
